So Beaumont Leigh chairman is confident that Lachlan lam will be off quota as he played 3 years at Wigan st pats.
As most of the long term federation players have children many of whom have played for local clubs presumably if this goes through there could be an untapped source of new Aussie imports
Where would we draw the line - would a season st Stanley ranges under 8 s qualify as federation trained ?
Going to be an interesting precedent

Think Bongser saw Kieran celebrating with DB last night. He's been out of the team for a long time now but obviously still felt part of "The Journey" - testament to the great squad spirit nurtured by Lam Snr.
Good luck to him at Widnes (no irony intended).

I admit to being swayed by the DP interview. Most impressed by the way he didn’t once cite disruption from injuries. Half a squad off contract at the same time does sound bonkers, I wonder what the thinking was behind that.
As for Currie, he was way off his best last season.

All very quiet at the moment.
Hopefully it’s a sign that there’s plenty of negotiating going on.

I think I go further back than you when I remember the first coming of the messiah Alex Murphy as Player-coach. In the Wembley season 70/71 a total over 110,000 attended 17 league matches giving an average home crowds of 6,500. But what was more memorable were the attendances at cup matches during his tenure. This included 2 amazing clashes in the Challenge Cup against Wigan of 22,660 in 1968 and 18,505 in 1970. Plus 16,494 in a Lancs. Cup semi final against Widnes... Читать дальше...

Ben Cockayne. Think he had the best season of his career when he was with us, made the England team. Duncan MacGillivray, remember his debut against Warrington and he looked dug up he was bandaged up that much, Jesus what a player. Possibly best defensive player I’ve seen at Wakey in my time of watching.

Exactly - money will always be the driving force but clubs need to look outside the box a bit more, most clubs have a significant asset sat idle for most of the year (ground) so need to look at how that can be utilisied more as an example. Just playing games of rugby these days is not enough to survive on (especially for smaller clubs) - most clubs need money putting in, thats why these pie-in-the-sky ideas will fail again. So how many teams will be in Super League?
In IMG's words, that is 'open and fluid'. The goal is that in the coming years, those Category B clubs who get a place in Super League develop on and off the field to such an extent they are awarded Category A grading. Once Super League has 12 Category A teams - Super League won't be reduced to ten teams, it will remain at 12 - the prospect of expanding the competition to include more teams becomes a reality.

Jeez you lot, this angry debate over which of you is the second biggest club in the UK is like two bald men arguing over a comb.

Sad loss to an A team star, and 8-10 game a year first team. A real fans favourite pretty sure he played against the 86 Kangaroos on the wing outside future Australian great ET

Yes, but it wasn,t in Manly's back yard which is what the original Rogue's trollling comment is about.
As regards to spending didn't the Wigoons spend big to keep up in Superleague by spending a record breaking £220 000 breach the most ever in superleague history and that was at the expense of Castleford.
So my points are still valid, bought success and bought out from failure..............Amen.

Always seemed like a centre playing SR to me. His one trick now seems to be chasing planned grubber kicks from Williams. Maybe he will play more centre next year, he seems to have the necessary skills. I think Wire would do better with a work-horse (Ben Westwood type) SR who will get involved in the more physical stuff and give a higher tackle count, especially as next year's front rowers are not the most mobile and won't play big minutes.
Justin Poore. Smashed Farrell but didn’t really do much else after that.

Little mention here of Dean Whare potentially joining us
He will be joined by teammate Willie Isa as well as 19-test veteran Dean Whare of the Catalans Dragons who is, ironically, widely expected to join Isa at Wigan in 2023.
Other than Hardaker ( if we can) I can't see us adding anything more to our starting 17 this year.

Plenty of giants on show in the World Cup -start of pre season will be a bit sparse! Levi, lolohea, marsters, Lawrence, golding, Rogers, hill, rushton, senior, naiqama
Wardle, trout, English, Russell, and pryce all featured in the England knights squad against France.
Shows the class of player we have at the giants now.
Also ex academy players Dom young Ronan michael Joel Farrell are playing a part in the World Cup too.
