I'd forgotten that rumour....unless someone leaves we've only got one quota spot though?

I've always thought Jake would be an excellent ball playing 13, he likes the niggle, would be less exposed defensively and could chime in as and when he wants in attack. He loves the niggle and has a physical presence. But I can't see Watson ever going with a ball playing loose. Yates is an outstanding loose forward for his meters and defence and I can't ever see us deviating from that

Take a bow. 21 years old and already won every domestic trophy available yet gets man of the match against the cream of the NRL.
What a player.

Terrific performance today for England. Really developed well at Newcastle. A great future asset I hope.

The pivots of Tomkins, Williams and Welsby worked very well and fed our outside backs with quality plays.
Thought our weakness at times was at no 9 with distribution, when Ridley went there we looked better and we started to pile on the points.
Good confidence booster that for the team and Wane.
On a side note I thought the Samoa coach Parish looked as though he had just got out of bed and had a sleepy look about him.

England in any sport are at there best when written off. Wane now has to keep them feeling that way, the moment we believe we are gods gift we are stuffed.
Great result all the same, didn’t see that scoreline in a million years.

Brilliant performance from England. I’m really pleased for Wane too. You always know you’ll get 100% commitment from a Wane team but they were outstanding today in all areas.
Williams was MOTM for me, he really was superb. Shows how bad the culture is at Warrington to see him perform so badly at club level. Farnworth and Young were brilliant too and obviously Welsby with a try and 3 assists showed up well. I hope his mistake with the interception doesn’t stop him trying things as he plays eyes up all the time and takes chances. Читать дальше...

Wingers and centres excellent doing hard yards early in the sets. Forwards been great stopping Samoa getting any field position until the last 10/15 or so. Need to wrap up the ball and stop the offloads are that will kill us. Frustrating that Welsby through the interception pass, it worked twice that side already and with The Hammer off injured i'd still be targetting that side as it'll be disjointed.
We do need to take advantage of the field position we had. Samoa surely won't be as bad... Читать дальше...
Williams is having a good game alongside Welsby at half-back. We look far more capable of opening teams up than we have for a long while.

From a personal point of view, and bearing in mind many of my kindred had actually resolved ourselves with being in the Championship next year, I would like to think we have a balanced view on the IMG recommendations. We won't be CAT A, but likely a CAT B, which Halifax could also be with some improvements. And the best CAT B clubs will be in SL. I get that it sounds like the door has been closed for Championship clubs to get to Super League... Читать дальше...
They have. Pity about the intercept, as Samoa haven't threatened with ball in hand.

Looking forward to it.
England have got a big job on to bear Samoa but they can do it.

I've booked tickets for three of the 4 games at the HJS. I'm looking to seeing Samoa, who have several backs from Penrith's GF winning side and the QF that should be Samoa/England V Tonga. I couldn't be bothered with the NZ v Lebanon game, as it won't be remotely competitive, but it still makes me think of SBW who slipped over the dead ball lane while strolling in for a certain score, the last time the Kiwis were in town.
Can't wait for this afternoon's game at 2.30, should be a good one.
Anyone else looking forward to the comp... Читать дальше...
Up in Newcastle for this, looking forward to it .
Mcilorum at hooker with no hooker on the bench looks weird to me as does playing cooper at all.
No idea what we do if a back gets injured

Until the criteria for the Categories are announced we are all discussing blindly. Leigh may well be penalised for lacking an Academy but who knows?
What happens if Leigh are the only Category B side in SL in which, for argument, they finish in seventh place? Relegating them would only heighten the ridicule thrown at the sport from outsiders. IMG would be rebranded OMG!!
As it happens, personally think that the criteria will be tailored to suit only the rich clubs, favour only them... Читать дальше...
