I guess Australia may be the source of a couple of key players, but the combination of part-time and London may be an issue (London probably a selling point to an Australian of course).
On this I would have thought that any 2nd tier player from Aus/Nz would have a good old look at London before Batley, Halifax, Keighley etc. Whether that’s a good model to pursue I’m not sure but you have to use the advantage that you have so I tend to think the additional quality... You know what I just don’t care any more. In fact I’m probably not even going to bother watching the game because no matter what the outcome the talking point is now not likely going to be about the skill and talent of all or any of the players on the field.

Not bothered overly about Luckley or Vete. Partington is a great pick up for Salford. Would have taken him for sure.

Thought there might have been some announcements this week with regards to new coaching staff but maybe waiting until after the grand final.

Just to add by the way that I am not necessarily saying that Peet doesn't deserve it this season. He's done a magnificent job and more annoyingly seems a bloody decent bloke.
My point was that I can't believe Woolf hasn't won it once in three years given what he was won and how good of a team he has made us especially given the departures post Holbrook.

Mason Lino imo needs to step up next season. He’s 29 years old before season kicks off and it will be his 3rd year or superleague. He is one of our senior group and plays in a pivotal position.
Overall I think he’s been a reasonably solid find but he needs to lead the team and present us with more try scoring opportunities especially close to the line. I’m all for bringing in a quality halfback who can control a game but Lino needs to step up a gear too.

Bentley can play for either England or Ireland. You can’t represent 2 different Nations in a World Cup year, but as I don’t believe he’s played for either this year, he qualifies for both until he represents one Nation or the other.
Oledkzi is a certain starter for England.
Myler, Handley, Bentley, Smith and Leeming all have a chance of making the squad.
I think England Knights have a game or 2?
Handley, Smith, Bentley, O’Connor, Gannon... Читать дальше...

Sorry just stumbled across this post Vasty and as usual you've outdone yourself here.
1) We requested an academy license and weren't given one (but I'm sure you know that already). Koukash disbanded our previous academy.
2) "This year's team has been assembled on the never never". Like to back that comment/guff up with facts? Our pack has been assembled on the cheap with pretty much cast-offs from every other team and our backline includes 2 players discarded by Wigan... Читать дальше...

With our season over the club can start to look forward to next year and Halifax’s 150th anniversary as a rugby club. What are people's thoughts as to how this historic occasion should be marked? I'll start off with perhaps a pre season friendly against an England, Yorkshire or SL champions side. Let's aim high and make next season an unforgettable one in Fax's history.

Well it's not that either.
Have another go.
When we beat York 100 - 4 there was 9 overseas players in the 17 that day, and 4, maybe 5 of them will not be here next season.
There WILL be 7 top class overseas players in our squad come next season.
We certainly won't be making the numbers up, don't you worry about that.

If we want top 6 we need to add 2 experienced half backs, 2 centres (sorry Dalton), and more depth in pack.
This something we have been guilty of for a long time, getting someone in just because we can’t get what we really need. Please please no, we should just go with Dean or Hayes if we don’t get the type of player to take us beyond one season.

Still staggers me that should Saints win tomorrow then Woolf will have never lost a play off game in 3 years, 3 GF's, 1x CC trophy and 1x LLS thrown in for good measure and he still won't have won Coach of the Year.
Work that one out.
What's your thoughts on the RFL overturning Knowles ban so he can play Saturday?
